Mestring for barn med ADHD

Datoen er 10. september det er duket for årets store happening for familier, barn og ungdommer med diagnose ADHD i Østfold.

Høsten er startet, bladene faller ned og jeg er på vei nedover til Sarpsborg  for å møte mange fantastiske mennesker, samt for å holde foredrag!

Like spent er jeg hver gang, endelig skal jeg få starte høsten med noe av det jeg elsker mest, foredrag!

Nye mennesker, gamle kjente og nye hjerter venter, noe spesielt er det ved disse møtene.

Jeg ankommer Quality hotell Sarpsborg i en bil jeg ikke kjenner, klokken er 11:30 foredraget skal starte kl 12 ( i mitt hode). Klarer selvfølgelig å miste telefonen under kjøreturen, den har klart å kile seg under setene i bilen, det tar meg 20 minutter å finne tlf, pakke ut tingene mine å løpe inn på hotellet, Tenker tanken som mange andre ville ha tenkt » hvorfor måtte det skje nå og hvorfor skjer det akkurat meg»

Jeg må kanskje bare innse at slik er jeg, mitt hodet og min hverdag en typisk ADHD hverdag fylt med spenning og utfordringer som må beseires.

Å når jeg skriver beseire, så tenker jeg på klatreveggen jeg plutselig var havnet opp i. Utover kvelden var det duket for aktivitet blant barna å jeg ble plutselig titulert som fetter og hadde ansvar for 3 barn som skulle klatre i klatreveggen. Lite viste jeg om at deres intensjon var å se meg, Alexander Skadberg klatre i en vegg fult av knotter som stod usymmetrisk plassert!

Jeg kom meg nesten opp til toppen, men det var før jeg måtte vri nakken å se ned, det var høyt og skummelt. Tanken som sitter igjen er bedre en opplevelsen, jeg gjorde det, jeg gjennomførte og jeg turte, en mestringsfølelse i seg selv bare det ?

ADHD Norge Østfold har et årlig mestringsseminar.

Dette er en familiehelg med foredrag for de voksne, foredrag og aktiviteter for ungdom og samtidig er det aktiviteter for barneskolebarna. Da kan de voksne slappe av og høre på foredrag og få ny kunnskap mens barna har det gøy med aktiviteter. Sosialt samvær for alle som ønsker det og erfaringsutveksling fra ende til annen, noe som er svært viktig.

ADHD Norge – Østfold tenker det er riktig å kalle det mestringsseminar fordi barna får møte andre barn som kanskje ikke alltid har det så lett, og dette kan lette ensomhetsfølelsen hos mange. Og de kan mestre å være sammen med andre barn uten å falle utenfor.

Ungdommene får møte andre ungdommer som kanskje har samme diagnose eller som er søsken av barn med diagnose eller lignende. De kan snakke om disse tingene og også se at andre også har «søskenfølelser». Vi ser at ungdommene ofte holder kontakten i lang tid etter seminaret. Det er stor gjensynsglede neste år og neste seminar. De får mestre å knytte nye bånd med nye mennesker. Det er viktig å ha med seg på veien til det store voksenlivet.

De voksne får informasjon om diverse temaer rundt ADHD og mestring i forhold til seg selv, søsken, familien, skole og andre instanser.

De får også møte andre familier som har utfordringer og kan både kjenne seg igjen, snakke om diverse temaer og spørre eller komme med tips og råd. De kan mestre å kunne snakke ferdig med en annen person, tenke ferdig en tanke og ta med seg ny kunnskap, nye erfaringer og nye bekjentskap hjem.

ADHD Norge – østfold velger å ha dette mestringsseminaret fordi at de ser den store verdien i det. De vet selv at det er viktig å møte andre og kunne snakke med andre som skjønner hva de mener. Erfaringsutveksling er gull verdt. All kunnskap og erfaring som er rundt i de tusen hjem, kan være til svært stor hjelp for andre hjem.
